That’s right.
The most basic, most comfortable and most effective piece of clothing you can wear is sitting right in your hamper. I’m sure most of you were expecting the obvious choice: a suit. That’s a given. Who doesn’t look sexy in a [properly fitted] suit? I’m stripping it down to the most basic of basics, something you may not have even realized before.
My boyfriend once ditched his usual button-up ensemble for a more casual t-shirt and jeans look and I swear I started crushing on him all over again. Don’t get me wrong – we love when you get dressed up, but sometimes the unexpected change can be a good one. The t-shirt: so effortless, so simple and so underrated. We (or most of us, at least) don’t need you to look like you walked out of a GQ photoshoot every time we see you. The understated can be just as effective. If it looks good, it looks good.
There’s a catch.
With that being said, don’t think you’re getting away with it that easy. Your sloppy, food-stained raggedy t-shirt is not going to cut it. There are two rules: it must be clean and it must be fitted. Not too big, and not too tight. It doesn’t have to be fancy, expensive or overly glitzy. In fact, minimal is good. Ed Hardy-esque… not so much. None of those deep-V American Apparel t-shirts, either – leave the cleavage to the girls. Wear it with a good pair of jeans and you’re good to go.
Give it a shot!
If you want to mix it up for the winter, try a long sleeve or a henley. The GAP sells good quality t-shirts that are comfortable and affordable. Or, you can even buy a three-pack of Hanes tees at your local Wal-Mart if they fit you well.
