I can’t tell you how pumped I was to see the Immortals last night… It sucked, I walked in hoping that I would get something similar to 300. What I got was 300’s handicapped younger brother. The whole movie I was just kind of confusing. Not because it was complex, or that it was even hard to follow… I was just confused. The scenes didn’t really make sense; (spoiler alert) the Olympians fight the Titans at one point and the Titans are depicted more like the Puttys from Power Rangers rather than the mountain sized champions of Greek mythology. The storyline deviated from its classical story (if my Greek mythology class serves me well) and the poor acting ruined any could be gripping scenes. With all that said, the fight scenes were awesome, think 300 meets ninja assassin (minor boost but you get what I mean). My argument is: if you’re going to make a movie solely for the action, then don’t try and make it more than it needs to be. Action movies don’t need elaborate story lines, they need killing and lots of it. The action scenes in “Immortal,” lose their intensity due to long gaps in between fight scenes for lackluster story. . Go see it, but go on a Tuesday night when it’s cheap or else just wait until it comes out on Blu-ray and watch it in HD.
