Review
The Avengers was no different than it’s prequels, every person who had been patiently waiting for this, was hoping it wouldn’t disappoint. And it didn’t. Yes the story line of several heroes coming together, clashing and then putting their differences aside to conquer evil could be seen as horribly predictable. However, it was executed almost perfectly. It had the right combination of humor/wit and seriousness. Whatever the film may have lacked in story lines it made up for with constant and awesome action scenes. This it what everyone was paying for anyways right?
The start of the film was drawn out without adequately explaining the back stories of Hawk Eye and Black Widow. For the non-comic goer there is also a limited explanation of who Loki (Evil brother of Thor) had allied with. This aside, the story is easy to follow. Aliens are coming to take over Earth, and as usual the Human race is horribly outmatched. Then when all seems lost the heroes bust on to the scene saving the world from its imminent destruction.
The only other knock would be the level of 3D interaction. Whenever I go to see a film in 3D I expect there to be a decent amount of things flying at me throughout the film. Though as it often is, the short clip during the previews that tells me to put on my 3D glasses is the highlight of the 3D experience.
If you’re a guy, this is a must see.
