Breakups suck, they’re tough as hell. Trying to find the right words to tell someone you’re no longer interested in them is one of the most challenging things to do. You can make a cheat sheet (Yes girls, guys make cheat sheets so they remember what to say), but, chances are you will veer off script quite a bit. At CAVEÂ we don’t believe there is a set way to break up with anyone, but we do believe in some core rules you should go by when breaking someones heart.
1. Stay away from cliches like, “It’s not you, It’s me,” or “I need to focus on me right now.” – Cliches strip any sincerity from what you’re saying
2. Sure you text each other all the time, but breaking up over text messages is not appropriate. Untuck your balls and talk to the girl in person.
3. Have the courtesy to hear out what she has to say after you drop the bomb, remember her feelings do matter to.
4. Do not have sex with her before or after the breakup…Before makes you look like an ass and after means you aren’t entirely done with her.
5. Tell the truth, because lies will surface no matter how good you think your poker face is.
Guys if she cheated, you have permission to throw some profanity into the mix before you tell her how much better your life is going to be without her!
There is no right way to break up with anyone, but there are certain things we can do to make things as smooth as possible. These are just suggestions…. if your girl has a fascination with knives, then maybe breaking up over the phone is a better option for you.
