So now that you have read The 5 Things You Need to Put Away to Make Your Place Girl Ready and followed those instructions, it’s time to move to part 2. Putting away certain things is a great way to make sure you don’t screw yourself over. Now the focus has to shift to getting brownie points. You want to show that you are caring, interesting and knowledgeable but you want to do it with a hint of subtlety. Below, are five things you should put out around your place hoping that the girl you have over accidentally stumbles upon.

1. A Good Collection of Books

It’s time to pull out all those books you got in your first year Philosophy class because they are going on the shelf. Get yourself a book like, “Good to Great,” stick a book mark in it and have it laying on the corner of your bed. When she takes notice of this, she is immediately going to think better of you. Make sure to research the plot-line of the book, so if she asks you about it you aren’t completely stunned.

2. Have Family Photos Out

Make sure you have family photos on display somewhere throughout your house. It will show that you are  a family first type of guy, and it will be a definite conversation starter when she sees how funny you looked when you were 10. If you want to go one step further you can put a picture up that was done in crayon by either a younger sibling, or yourself 15 minutes before she arrives. When she notices the picture, be brief with your story about how you have a passion for volunteering and how little jimmy had drawn that for you the last time you helped him with his math homework.

3. Have Drinks

Make sure you either have wine or bottled water. If she’s over and you serve her tap water like she’s in the military she will be unimpressed. Having a selection of drinks is always a positive, and after a few each the mood will be much lighter. If you are going to drink beer just make sure you have bought yourself something better than Colt 45.

4. Air Fresheners

Run down to the nearest store and buy a few Glade plugins. It will cover up the smell of your hockey bag in the closet and show her that you pay attention to detail. If you want to go one step further, buy some scented candles and put them around your house. Make sure you have lit the candles for a few hours before she gets there. If she sees brand new candles, she’ll catch on that you bought them to impress her.

5. Have a Playlist Made and Change Your Homepage

Music is a great way to set the mood and fill the void in between conversation. You don’t want to have the music switching between Marvin Gaye and DMX every other song. Make a list of 40-50 songs that aren’t overly romantic or aggressive. Also, make sure to change your homepage from nfl.com to some news source (bbc.com or cnn.com). If she goes on your computer and that pops up she will take note that you are caught up on current events…even if you’re not.
