Special Occasions
Whether it’s a birthday, wedding or promotion at work, you need to be there. It’s no secret that you don’t want to be at her uncles 45th birthday, and chances are your girlfriend doesn’t want to go either. Though, if she shows up alone she will face a bunch of questions on why you aren’t present. So take the insults from your buddies and get to the party.
When She Needs Emotional Support
Women are emotional beings. Thus, they get emotional. If your girlfriend is in a spat with either friends or family it may be an obligation for you to be there for her. It is your job to decipher whether or not she really needs you. If her sister borrowed her shirt and now it’s ruined, you can probably get away with listening to her complain on the phone for ten minutes. If her mother and father are splitting up, you should probably get out of your sweat pants and head over there.
When You Don’t See Each Other Often
If you and your girlfriend don’t get the opportunity to see each other often you have to make time for her when it’s available. One of my roommates has a girlfriend who lives in another city. When he goes to see her, there’s no questions asked. We may make a joke here or there, but he’s got to see her to make the relationship last.
